The maps and illustrations in the book are among the most important in the 16th century, including one of the earliest depictions of America as a whole continent. The Sea Monsters illustration measures 24 x 34 cm and is signed in the woodblock by the artist and the wood engraver M-F and H.R. MD (1550).
